Neural Prolotherapy (NPT) is an innovative technique that utilizes shallow injections of glucose to help treat and stop chronic pain. It works by blocking pain signals from nerves at the surface of the skin. The glucose provides a nutrient source for nerves that have been chronically irritated and allows relaxation to occur along the superficial neurons. NPT has been widely used for many types of pain issues from chronic injuries, neuropathies, and musculoskeletal degenerative pain. The treatment involves multiple injections with very thin needles. Many patients experience relief of symptoms by the time the procedure is complete. When applied as a series of treatments, many people experience lasting results of decreased pain, decreased inflammation, and tissue regeneration. We typically recommend a series of six to eight treatments, depending on the chronicity and severity of the pain.

At Steelsmith Natural Health Center we have used NPT to successfully treat patients with chronic lower back and neck pain, knee pain, Achilles tendon pain and inflammation, repetitive strain injury, tennis elbow, trigeminal neuralgia, TMJ pain, and many other musculoskeletal pain syndromes.
